How much does it cost to get a website built for a small business?
Our managed websites start from £30 per month with no upfront fee. This includes professional design, hosting, domain, SSL, and ongoing maintenance. Unlike one-off builds that can cost £500–£2,000+ upfront, our monthly model spreads the cost and includes everything you need to keep your site running.
Is it worth paying someone to build my website?
If your time is valuable, yes. DIY website builders can take 20–40 hours to learn and set up properly. Many business owners start but never finish, or end up with a site that doesn't convert visitors into customers. A professionally built website saves you time and is designed to actually bring in work.
What do I need to provide to get a website made?
You'll need to tell us about your business, the services you offer, areas you cover, and your contact details. Photos of your work help too. After ordering, you'll complete a simple questionnaire that covers everything—most people finish it in 20–30 minutes.
Do I need a website if I already have a Facebook page?
A Facebook page helps people who already know you, but it's not designed to help new customers find you. When someone searches "plumber near me" or "electrician in [town]", they want a clear answer fast. A website shows exactly what you do, where you work, and how to contact you—all in one place you control.
How do I get my small business found on Google?
You need a website optimised for search. We research the keywords your customers actually search for and build them into your site. We also register your website with Google and Bing, and can advise on setting up a Google Business Profile. This combination helps you appear when people search for your services locally.
Will a website actually help me get more customers?
A well-designed website helps customers find you, trust you, and contact you. It works 24/7, even when you're busy on a job. For tradespeople and local businesses, even one or two extra jobs a month from your website pays for itself many times over.
What should be on a small business website?
The essentials: what you do, where you work, how to contact you, proof of your work (photos), and reviews or testimonials. A clear call-to-action like "Call now" or "Get a quote" is important. We make sure your site has everything needed to turn visitors into enquiries.
Why do I have to pay monthly for a website?
Websites need hosting (a server to store them), a domain name, SSL certificate, and ongoing maintenance to stay online and working properly. Our monthly fee covers all of this, plus support when you need it. It means no surprise bills and no technical headaches for you.
What's better—Wix, Squarespace, or hiring a web designer?
DIY builders like Wix or Squarespace can work if you have time to learn them. But most busy business owners find they spend hours fiddling with templates and still end up with something that doesn't quite work. Hiring someone means you get a professional result without the time investment—and a site designed to convert visitors into customers.
What's your design approach?
We prioritise speed, clarity and usability over flashy graphics or animations. Fast-loading websites rank better on Google and don't frustrate visitors. We focus on clean, professional design that presents your business information clearly, uses images sparingly where they add value, and helps turn visitors into enquiries.
How long does a new site take?
From receiving your content, expect the first draft within 5 working days. After one round of feedback, we'll aim to go live shortly after. Most sites are live within 2–3 weeks of ordering.
What's included in hosting and maintenance?
All plans include secure hosting via Cloudflare (99.9% uptime target), SSL certificate, uptime monitoring, and technical maintenance. We handle all the technical aspects so you don't have to.
How do edits work?
Each plan includes a set number of free content edits per year: Basic (2 free edits), Standard (4 free edits), and Plus (6 free edits). Additional edits beyond your plan's allowance are charged at £25 each. Simply email your request and we'll complete it within 2–5 working days.
Should I use .co.uk or .com for my business?
For UK-based businesses serving local customers, .co.uk is usually better. It signals that you're a British business, which builds trust with UK customers. We include a free standard .co.uk domain with every plan (premium domains are quoted separately). If you prefer .com or already own a different domain, we can use that instead.
Will my website work on mobile phones?
Yes, all our websites are fully mobile-friendly. Most people now search on their phones, especially for local services. Every site we build looks great and works perfectly on phones, tablets, and desktops. Buttons are easy to tap, text is readable, and there's a click-to-call button for instant contact.
Do I need technical knowledge to have a website?
No. We handle everything technical—design, hosting, domain setup, SSL certificates, and maintenance. You just tell us about your business and provide some photos. When you need changes, you email us and we do it for you. No coding, no logins, no technical skills required.
Can I make changes to my website myself?
We handle all changes for you. Simply email us what you need changed—new phone number, updated photos, different text—and we'll do it within 2–5 working days. Each plan includes free edits per year, with additional edits at £25 each. This keeps things simple and means you don't need to learn any software.
How do I know if a web designer is any good?
Look at their portfolio—do the sites look professional and modern? Check if they specialise in businesses like yours. Read reviews. Ask about what's included and ongoing costs. We show real examples of our work on our portfolio page, and our pricing is completely transparent with no hidden fees.
What happens if I want to leave or switch providers?
You can cancel with 30 days' notice at any time—there's no minimum contract. Your content and images are always yours. If you want your domain transferred to another provider, there's a £150 admin fee. We don't hold you hostage, but we do charge for the admin work involved in transfers.
Do you help with SEO?
Yes. Every website includes keyword research and on-page SEO optimisation. We research the terms your customers actually search for and use them throughout your site. We also register your website with Google and Bing so search engines know it exists and can start indexing your pages.
Can I use my own domain?
Yes. If you already own a domain, we can use it for your site. If you need a new domain, we'll register a free standard .co.uk domain for you as part of your plan (premium domains are quoted separately).
What if I need more pages?
Additional pages can be added for a one-time fee, typically starting from £50 per page depending on complexity. Contact us to discuss your requirements and we'll provide a quote.
How are payments processed?
All payments are securely processed through Stripe, a leading payment processor trusted by millions of businesses worldwide. We never see or store your card details—all payment information is handled directly by Stripe, which is PCI DSS Level 1 compliant (the highest level of payment security certification).
Do you do ecommerce or online shops?
Ecommerce isn't something we offer with our standard packages, as we focus on brochure-style websites for service businesses. However, if you have specific requirements, please contact us to discuss what you need.
Do you provide email accounts?
No. We do not supply email accounts or email hosting. However, if you have an email provider (such as Google Workspace or Microsoft 365), we can configure your domain's DNS settings to point to your email provider at no extra charge.
