1. Agreement to terms

By engaging WebDept. ("we", "us", or "our") to provide website design, development, hosting, and maintenance services, you ("you", "your", or "client") agree to be bound by these terms and conditions. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our services.

2. Services

WebDept. provides managed website subscription services including:

  • Website design and development
  • Domain registration (where applicable)
  • SSL certificate provision
  • Hosting and server maintenance
  • Uptime monitoring
  • Content edits as specified in your plan

All services are provided on a subscription basis with monthly recurring payments.

3. Important information

What counts as a small edit?

A small edit is a minor content change that takes no more than 15 minutes. Examples include updating a phone number, swapping an image, or correcting text. Larger changes are quoted separately.

Additional edits

Once your included edits are used, additional small edits are charged at £25 each.

Lead times

All work is completed within 2 to 5 working days. We do not offer same-day or urgent turnarounds. Plus plan clients receive priority within these lead times.

Contract terms

No minimum contract length. Your plan continues monthly and you may cancel with 30 days' notice at any time.

Leaving WebDept.

A £150 administration fee applies if you wish to transfer your domain or data to another provider. No fee if you cancel without requiring a transfer.

Email accounts

We do not supply email accounts or email hosting services. If you have an existing email provider (such as Google Workspace or Microsoft 365), we can configure your domain's DNS settings to point to your email provider at no extra charge.

Domain registration

A standard .co.uk domain is included with your plan. Premium domains—including short names, single-word names, or high-demand names that registrars charge a premium for—are not included. If your preferred domain is classed as premium, we will notify you and provide a separate quote before registration. You may choose an alternative standard-priced domain at no extra cost.

4. Payment terms

Payment is due monthly in advance. The first payment is due upon agreement to commence work. Subsequent payments are due on the same date each month.

All payments are securely processed through Stripe, a leading payment processor. Stripe handles all payment card information securely and is PCI DSS compliant. By providing your payment details, you agree to Stripe's terms of service and privacy policy.

If payment is not received within 7 days of the due date, we reserve the right to suspend your website until payment is received. We are not responsible for any loss of business or other consequences resulting from suspension due to non-payment.

All prices are in British Pounds (GBP). WebDept. is not currently VAT registered, so VAT is not charged. If our VAT status changes, we will notify you of any impact on your pricing.

5. Contract term and cancellation

There is no minimum contract length. Your subscription continues on a month-to-month basis and you may cancel at any time with 30 days' notice. Cancellation can be done through our billing portal (see our Support page for details) or by emailing [email protected].

Upon cancellation, your website will be taken offline unless you request a transfer of your domain and files (see section 7).

6. Content edits

Each plan includes a specified number of content edits per year. Edits are defined as minor text changes, image swaps, or similar updates that take under 15 minutes to complete.

Additional edits beyond your plan's allowance are charged at £25 per edit. Larger changes such as new pages, layout alterations, or feature additions are quoted separately and do not count toward your included edits.

All edit requests must be submitted via email. We aim to complete edits within 2–5 working days. We do not offer urgent or same-day turnarounds.

7. Lead times and scheduling

Initial website builds typically take 5+ working days from receipt of your content. Timelines may vary depending on the complexity of your project and the volume of content provided.

All work is scheduled in advance. We do not offer urgent or same-day services, even on higher-tier plans.

8. Domain and content ownership

You retain ownership of all content, images, and materials you provide to us. Domains registered on your behalf are registered in your name where possible.

If you wish to transfer your domain and website files to another provider, a £150 administration fee applies to cover the handover work. This fee must be paid before the transfer is completed.

The website code, design, and underlying technical implementation remain the property of WebDept. unless otherwise agreed in writing.

9. Client responsibilities

You are responsible for:

  • Providing accurate and complete information and content
  • Ensuring all content complies with applicable laws and regulations
  • Obtaining necessary permissions and licences for any content you provide
  • Making timely payments as agreed
  • Notifying us promptly of any issues or required changes

10. Service availability and uptime

We aim for 99.9% uptime for your website using Cloudflare's distributed hosting infrastructure. However, we cannot guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. Occasional downtime may occur due to:

  • Scheduled maintenance (we will provide notice where possible)
  • Third-party service outages (including Cloudflare, domain registrars, or payment processors)
  • Circumstances beyond our reasonable control

We do not offer service level agreements (SLAs) with financial credits for downtime. If you require guaranteed uptime with financial penalties, please discuss your requirements before ordering.

11. Limitation of liability

We are not liable for any indirect, consequential, or incidental damages arising from the use or inability to use our services.

Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the total amount paid by you to us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

We are not responsible for any loss of business, revenue, or data resulting from:

  • Website downtime or service interruptions
  • Third-party service outages (Cloudflare, Stripe, domain registrars, etc.)
  • Security breaches not directly caused by our gross negligence
  • Content you provide that infringes third-party rights

12. Intellectual property

All intellectual property rights in the website design, code, and technical implementation remain the property of WebDept. unless otherwise agreed in writing.

You grant us a licence to use your name, logo, and content for the purpose of providing our services and for our own marketing purposes (such as portfolio displays) unless you request otherwise.

13. Changes to services

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of our services at any time. We will provide reasonable notice of any material changes that affect your service.

If we make changes that materially reduce the value of your service, you may cancel your subscription without penalty by providing notice within 30 days of the change.

14. Changes to terms

We may update these terms and conditions from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by email or by posting a notice on our website. Continued use of our services after such changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

15. Termination

We reserve the right to terminate your service immediately if:

  • You breach any of these terms and conditions
  • Payment is overdue by more than 30 days
  • You engage in any illegal activity or use our services for illegal purposes

Upon termination, you remain liable for all outstanding payments and fees.

16. Governing law

These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these terms or our services shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
